What a summer this has been. Firstly I'd like to apologize for the delayed reviews. They'll be delayed a few weeks more.
I spent so much of my time this summer teaching my My 3-1/2 year old to swim, and he can now do it on his own! He can swim about 30 ft on his own; he could probably do more but we don't want to push him. We've even gotten to the point of getting him to float on his back for 20-30 seconds (most adults can't do that for that long). He'll be starting his swimming class this fall a level higher (he could probably start even higher, but we'll see what his instructors say). This summer we also welcomed our second son into the world--and he's a cutie!
What with swimming and another son the bee season had to be cut short this year--at least I'm on the right track with catching them mid-flight. I have been working on a rather simple device that allows me to track them, yes I can actually track bees. I can't reveal too much other than to say the idea for this tool was sitting in front of me all this time. I may try to patent it, but truth be told that goes against my nature. A book is one thing, but a technique for taking pictures, well it's something I'd rather share with others. We'll see what my lawyer friend says about this...
I have also decided that I'll self-publish one of my novels. I have four novels that I've written, and I'm tired of getting rejection letters and tired of waiting for agents to decide if they want to pursue my work and I just got tired of revising my work. I'll keep friends and family and fans posted about that project on Facebook--yes, it's true, I do have a Facebook account (after a four year absence!)--it's a pretty neat marketing tool.
Here's a little tease about the book--it's about 100,000 words and is the middle book of a middle grade fantasy trilogy:
"Three months after his cousin mysteriously disappears Michael is hunted down by an enemy that has been after his family for decades, an enemy bent on obtaining a secret Michael isn’t even aware he carries, a secret so powerful that it could destroy our world and all worlds.
This secret is so dangerous that the Last Guardian of Brenian sends his most trusted ally, Plumpkin, to protect Michael from their enemy, an enemy who will do anything to regain the Sapphire of Darkness."
It's been a good summer. The scent of fall hints that it'll be a fabulous autumn.
Till my next rambling, post, or review, this is, hey, hey
