A cleaning method I can vouch by...

Tape on a Sensor! That's not my camera in the pictures, and that's definitely not me on that post.

However, I have used this method, back when I thought I had scratched my sensor with my dust blower. It actually works. I completely removed the scuff from my sensor. The tape I used was 3M Magic tape 810; I have heard that 811 is even better. In any case, I haven't had any problems with my sensor or my camera since.

I also use a wet cleaning method every 3-4 months. For that I use Eclipse solution with pecpads. It words like a charm.

To remove finger prints off a front element, I use a funky method, and so far it works:
1) blow away all dust
2) wet clean with pecpads/lens tissue
3)blow dry and blow off any more dust
4) dry rub pecpads with a Qtip over the fingerprints
5) put you lens under a strong light to make sure you got rid of the print
6) repeat steps 3-5 till it's gone.

Some people may think that's dangerous, but when you think about it, the sensor is more sensitive than your lens coating. Using pecpads with a Qtip isn't going to damage the coatings. Nikon designed them to withstand quite a bit, so rub away! Just make sure it's free of dust first--that could damage the coating.
